You can use Diamonds to:

a)        Purchase exclusive decorations

b)        Purchase tasks within Missions or Neighbours for a Castle Upgrade Party to bypass tasks and move on quicker

c)        Purchase Energy refills

d)        Instantly purchase a Goods Bucket of 130 Goods (Food)

e)        To revive all of your eaten crops

 You get 1 Diamond every time you Level Up. 

Otherwise, you can purchase Diamonds with Facebook Credits in the shop or by clicking on ADD MORE below the Diamonds icon. See picture below:
